Unit price perThe 2017 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG Riserva comes from vineyards in the Colline Teramane that received the DOCG designation in 2003. The 2003 vintage is the first year of production released with the new guidelines.
Production
This area is located near the “Gran Sasso” a massif of the Apennines and benefits from a microclimate in which the vines flourish and offer fine wines with character. Introduced in Abruzzo at the beginning of the 19th century, the Montepulciano grape spread throughout the region to become the only red grape in the region. Finally, the “Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita” was approved for the “Teramane Hills” production sub-zone.
Winemaking
Regarding the winemaking process, the harvest is done manually. Thus, only the best grapes are selected. This is then done by controlling the fermentation according to the quality of the grapes of the year. Then comes an aging in wood for 18 months and finally a refining in bottles for a year. This wine is produced in limited quantities. Thus, only the best vintages are put on the market.
