Epicurious Brothers has selected one of the finest examples of Italian sparkling wines: Franciacorta D.O.C.G. Brut Millesimato, produced by Azienda Agricola Lo Sparviere. This prestigious Franciacorta is exclusively crafted in the renowned region of Provaglio d’Iseo, in the province of Brescia, Lombardy.
This sparkling wine of exceptional quality is made using the traditional or Champagne method (refermentation in the bottle), ensuring its refined character and elegance
Winemaking
Franciacorta D.O.C.G. Brut Millesimato is produced from 100% hand-picked Chardonnay grapes, rigorously selected in the vineyard. After harvest, the grapes are cooled to 4°C for 24 to 36 hours to enhance aroma extraction. They are then delicately whole-cluster pressed, with only 55% of the free-run must being used. Fermentation occurs slowly at 15-17°C to preserve the varietal aromas.
The base wine is aged for 6 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks, and a portion undergoes malolactic fermentation to add complexity. After blending, the wine is bottled for its second fermentation, followed by an ageing period of at least 48 months on the lees to develop its characteristic finesse and depth.
A Unique Expression
This Franciacorta reflects the rich diversity of its terroir, grown on marl soils with a prevalence of silt and red clay. The result is a sparkling wine that marries minerality and elegance with a smooth, floral character. Its balanced, crisp, and lengthy palate makes it an exceptional choice for any occasion.
Annual production is limited, ensuring its exclusivity and meticulous attention to detail.
